This is just to give you an idea for evening meal or weekend lunch .

Ingredients 

1 cup basmati rice 

1 medium size potato, onion, carrot all in small pieces

2 to 3 tablespoon of frozen peas 

2 tablespoon of oil 

3 to 4 cloves 

2 small cinnamon sticks 

1/2 teaspoon cumin seed 

1/2 teaspoon mustard seed

Masala

1 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger

1 teaspoon of green chilli crushed .                                           

1 teaspoon crushed garlic

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cumin/coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon turmeric


Method.

Wash rice and socked rice for 1/2 hour. 

Heat the pan, add oil. Add clove, cinnamon, mustard seed, cumin seed. When they crack (popped), add all veg, stir.

Add all masala  mix it well and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

Drain rice and add in, stir it cook for further 3 to 4 minutes. 

Add 1 1/2 cups hot water and let it cook , check if rice cook if not add little more water and simmer for 5 minutes.

Add nob of butter spread on top of rice and simmer little more. 

Optional - add boiled egg sliced in 2. before you add butter  -  like egg biryanis.
